2007 22LR Silencer Shootout
This test is the older review and is now on the archive servers. Check out the new 2009 22LR review in the premium section!
These tests were conducted on January 5, 2008 using 19 silencers from various manufacturers around the country. Some of the best silencers in the world were measured in this test. The test was fired using the Walther P22 pistol and a bolt action rifle manufactured in Russia call the Tula Toz 78. This is the preliminary release of this data and more individual reviews will become available as time permits. It is VERY IMPORTANT to listen to the videos of these silencers in use before making any decision to purchase a silencer. When possible, shoot the silencer on your host pistol before making a purchasing decision. While this is not always possible, it is the best way. The videos can offer a great deal of insight as to what the silencer will actually sound like in person. Different silencers fit different end users needs. Use the member forums to discuss the results. Ammunition used on the Walther P22 was CCI Standard Velocity and the ammunition used on the Russian Tula was Aguila Super Extra Subsonic 40 grain rounds.
